WILLISTON, Vt. (WCAX) – The holidays have come and gone, so what should you do with your Christmas tree?
Chittenden Solid Waste District leaders say they’ll take it! If you drop off a real, bare tree, it’ll be turned into fuel, helping create electricity at the Burlington Electric Department’s McNeil Generating Plant. CSWD suggests giving the tree a second chance at life rather than throwing it in the dump.
“When you have a Christmas tree, you celebrated it, you used it to bring joy to you during the holidays. You don’t want the energy and the effort that was gone into growing it and transporting it to go to waste,” Michele Morris of CSWD. “You want it to go to the highest and best use you possibly can when you’re done with it.”
If you want to get rid of an artificial tree, you can bring that to the waste district, as well, but it’ll go into the landfill.
